Event Highlights
The recently concluded Gulfood Manufacturing 2024 celebrated the latest innovations and achievements in the field of food manufacturing. The event held in Dubai brought together over 2,500 food manufacturers and 45,000 visitors to observe the latest innovations and trends in the food and beverage manufacturing sector. The Gulfood Manufacturing 2024 event also signaled a shift towards embracing the Industry 5.0 approach. This meant that emphasis was given to creating social value and human well-being over technological advancements in the supply chain and economic gains.
AI-Powered Fermentation Technology and Chatbots
Givaudan, a flavoring firm, unveiled a machine that enabled users to adjust scent quantities in real-time by attaching the mask to the device. Meanwhile, an AI-powered precision fermentation technology was introduced by DSM-Firmenich which enables users to personalize the taste and texture profiles of various proteins for animal-free yogurts. Likewise, Symrise introduced a program that creates AI chatbots emulating specific consumer types. This means that users can engage with Symvision AI’s archetypes to assess how consumers from different parts of the world can respond to a particular offering. Using chatbots can help food manufacturers make strategic decisions whether a flavor can work thereby expediting the process of introducing the product to the market. For instance, users can engage with Symvision AI’s archetypes to assess whether a Gen Z consumer from New York or a Gen X shopper based in Dubai would respond positively to a particular offering.
Quantum Leap in Block Technology
Krones showcased the Ergobloc 100,000 bph. This is by far a quantum leap when it comes to block technology as it enabled the fastest bottling line in the world. Similarly, SIG unveiled an NEO Slimline 15 Aseptic filling machine capable of filling 15,000 SIG SlimlineBloc packs per hour. Meanwhile, a dairy innovator from India, MilkyMist launched the world’s first long-life probiotic buttermilk in shelf-stable aseptic carton packaging. This ground-breaking research marks a significant milestone in the food and beverage industry.
Innovation and Sustainability at Forefront
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Gulfood Manufacturing 2024 brought innovation and sustainability to prominence. The event also cemented Dubai’s position as a leading hub for embracing food and beverage manufacturing including artificial intelligence. AI was also in the spotlight in GITEX Global 2024 wherein the UAE signaled its readiness for taking strategic initiatives such as the Dubai Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence to foster a culture of innovation.
