Dubai DET and Amedues to establish Ecosystem for Travel Tech Solutions

Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) entered into an MoU with Amadeus, to establish a city-wide ecosystem for rapidly prototyping travel tech solutions in the emirate. The Dubai DET and Amedues strategic partnership with Amadeus will help Dubai further strengthen its position as a hub for travel innovation

The partnership will focus on advancing travel technology, enhancing visitor experiences, and bolstering Dubai’s tourism ecosystem. It will also support Dubai’s record-breaking 18.72 million international overnight visitors that it welcomed in 2024 (a 9% increase from 2023) and aim to drive growth momentum forward.

The MoU was signed by Issam Kazim, CEO of DCTCM, and Maher Koubaa, EVP Travel Unit, and MD EMEA, Amadeus to align it with the Dubai Economic Agenda – D33 and reinforce Dubai’s status as a leading global destination for business and leisure. Issam Kazim emphasized the role of the partnership to solidify Dubai’s reputation as an innovation hub as well as accelerate digital transformation in the travel sector.

Previously, DET and Amadeus have collaborated in Strategic Travel Data and Analytics, Programmatic Travel Advertising, and B2B Travel Marketing. The current MoU will lay the groundwork for Amadeus to set up a Center of Excellence in Dubai and drive initiatives such as airport optimization, access management, biometric-based travel experiences, and touchless payments. The initiative will also support startups and enhance travel intelligence for the hospitality and tourism sectors.

Dubai’s business-friendly environment, world-class infrastructure, and strategic location make it an ideal base for pioneering travel solutions. The collaboration between DET and Amadeus will create new opportunities for businesses and startups and drive economic diversification and sustainable growth in the emirate. It will also enable Dubai to set new industry benchmarks and deliver a more personalized travel experience to travelers. Last year, DET also entered into a partnership with Dubai Health Authority to promote Dubai as a medical tourism destination with the initiative of making Dubai the top choice for medical tourists seeking quality care.

The Dubai Loop Project with Elon Musk

Earlier this month, Dubai also announced the launch of the Dubai Loop project with Elon Musk to develop a rapid transportation network and offer a sustainable mobility solution. The Dubai Loop which will be powered by electric vehicles will span 17 kilometers and accommodate up to 20,000 passengers per hour, traveling at speeds of 160 km/h.
