Dubai Loop – A Sustainable Mobility Solution

Dubai has announced the launch of the Dubai Loop project, which it is partnering with Elon Musk to develop. The ambitious Project aims to establish a seamless and rapid transportation network across the emirate’s most densely populated areas. 

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work, announced alongside Elon Musk at the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai. 

The Benefits of the Dubai Loop Project

Powered by electric vehicles, the underground Dubai Loop will span 17 kilometers and have 11 stations. It can accommodate up to 20,000 passengers per hour and travel at 160 km/h. 

The idea behind the Dubai Loop project is to offer a sustainable mobility solution and revolutionize the transport sector. The initiative will cover the most congested areas of Dubai and will help commuters steer away from traffic congestion and traverse through the city quickly.

According to Elon Musk, tunnel-based travel has several advantages over alternatives like Flying Cars. This includes being practical, safe, efficient, and more comfortable in terms of commuting experience. 

RTA’s Solar-Powered RAILBUS System

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) also announced the RAILBUS at the World Goverment Summit 2025. The RAILBUS will be powered by solar energy and will aim to enhance first and last-mile connectivity to commuters. The next-generation mass transit system will also offer a more efficient and sustainable travel alternative to conventional public transport in Dubai.
