Apple Vision Pro to Boost the VR Headset Market in the UAE

Apple launches its groundbreaking Apple Vision Pro, which will be available from 15 November and can be pre-ordered in the UAE from Monday, 4 November. The Apple Vision Pro is Apple’s first spatial computing device, seamlessly integrating digital content with the physical environment. The device promises to transform user interactions across entertainment and work and is available at a starting price of Dh 13,999 in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB options. 

Vision Pro Features

The Apple Vision Pro comes with a new operating system (visionOS) enabling users to navigate their environment using hand gestures, speech commands, and eye movements. Equipped with the M2 and R1 Apple silicon chips, the device comes with an ultra-high-resolution display system using micro-OLED technology promising to deliver 23 million pixels. Similarly, the device can create a highly customizable yet immersive workspace, promising a distraction-free experience. 

In addition, the spatial device can be integrated with other Apple devices such as iPhones, iPads, and Macs and is compatible with Microsoft 365, Webex, and Zoom allowing for additional productivity and collaboration with different platforms. In terms of security features, the device includes Optic ID to ensure data privacy. Built-in accessibility options like Guided Access, Switch Control, and VoiceOver enable users to customize input methods for an inclusive experience.

Apple Video and Gaming Experience 

The Vision Pro is also equipped with Apple Immersive Video which is an exceptional storytelling format. This is because the Apple Immersive Video leverages 3D 8K video and Spatial Audio and can be accessed through the Apple TV app and can be used to stream services in the Gulf region like Apple TV+ and OSN+. In addition, Vision Pro boasts an extensive library of 3D movies making the device a personal cinema. The device does not disappoint gamers as it allows hand and eye-tracking technology enabling unparalleled gaming experience. 

The UAE Metaverse Industry 

When it comes to gaming, the UAE is rapidly developing its metaverse ecosystem to elevate the gaming experience in the country. According to a Deloitte study, the UAE’s metaverse industry could potentially contribute AED 61.3 billion (€15.6 billion) by 2035 and is projected to grow by 28-35% annually between 2023-2030. Likewise, Dubai is also poised to position the emirate as world’s top 10 metaverse economies. In 2023, the Dubai Metaverse Strategy was announced focusing on Extended Reality (blending physical and virtual worlds), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality, and Digital Twins (virtual representation of an object or system). Additionally, the government also took strategic initiatives like Dubai Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence to foster a culture of innovation and excellence.

UAE Virtual Reality (VR) Headset Market

Due to a surge in demand for gaming, the VR Headset market in the UAE is expected to generate revenue of AED 71.2 million (€ 17.3 billion) in 2024. According to estimates, the VR headset market will grow annually by 8% between 2024-2028 with stand-alone, Personal Computer (PC) and Smartphone VR devices to be in high demand in the UAE. Stand-alone VR Headsets in UAE are currently dominated by Oculus Quest, Vive Focus, and PlayStation VR 2 however arrival of Apple Vision Pro is likely to have an impact on the market share.
