UAE to transform the education sector via GPT-powered AI tutors’

The schools in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are planning to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning technology in their curriculums. The Ministry of Education (MoE) aims to introduce AI-generated tutors in classrooms in the UAE. The idea is to transform the education sector with AI technology similar to ChatGPT or Google Bard. However, the teachers will remain the major source of the students’ learning.

The MoE is committed to adopting technologies and collaborating with partners to develop AI tutors powered by GPT. Furthermore, they plan to elevate the UAE education sector by integrating technology into their system. The development in science and education technology is currently witnessing accelerated growth. Traditional methods are being replaced by interactive distance learning. Therefore, this initiative is aimed at aligning the UAE education learning environment in line with global standards.

Integrating Technology in Education

The UAE ministry is planning to partner with Microsoft, OpenAI, and other tech leaders. The motive is to ensure that these technologies are used to enhance the quality of education in the country. The ministry has also stressed that the role of teachers in UAE’s education system will not be overshadowed by AI. The language models and generative AI will be used to transform and promote academics as well as redesign the teaching methods.

Generative AI is a platform through which programs such as ChatGPT create audio, video, and images when questions are asked. Similarly, large language models can generate and mimic conversations by humans. Currently, MOE is drafting policies on how these technologies can be integrated. These policies and guidelines will then be provided to the school management. Teachers will be briefed on how these large language models can benefit and help students.

The technology infrastructure that was established during COVID-19 helped the schools in the UAE be operative. Education for the students was not compromised but rather technology was used as a tool to overcome the difficulties. Technology will be used in similar ways to further help the students get a better education in the UAE.
